The Independent Shakespeare Company does shows every summer at the Old Zoo. Here are some reasons to go:

You want to enjoy the museum get the kids into art but you don’t know where to start. Family Art Stops has a plan for you:
A gallery teacher will greet you in the Museum Entrance Hall and lead you to a family-friendly work of art. You might meet a Renaissance oil painting, a 45-foot-tall steel sculpture, or an opulent tapestry adorned with scampering exotic animals. You and your family will look and learn together as you participate in fun activities such as puzzles, drawing, role-playing, and even an artistic version of Mad Libs. Activities and works of art change frequently, making each visit a new experience.
The tours are free, but you need to sign up at the Information Desk beginning at 11 a.m. for the 11:30 a.m. program on the day you’d like to participate.

The gates open at 7:15, the movie starts at 9 p.m. DJs spin before the film and there’s a Pee Wee photo booth, too. Wine and beer are permitted, and they ingeniously suggest that you bring a tarp for under your blanket so no one gets a soggy butt.

For more than three decades as both a leader and a sideman, conguero PONCHO SANCHEZ has stirred up a fiery stew of straightahead jazz, gritty soul music, and infectious melodies and rhythms from a variety of Latin American and South American sources. His influences are numerous, but among the more prominent figures that inform his music are two of the primary architects of Latin jazz—conga drummer and composer Chano Pozo and trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie.
