Dig It: Egyptian Family Art Days

where: Miracle Mile, LACMA, 5900 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, Ca

cost: Free

the Whaddup:

LACMA has a huge collection of Egyptian art—some of it is over 2,000 years old! Look for the mother and son gods Isis and Horus, a sarcophagus, and many animals like baboons, cats, and falcons. After exploring, make your own Egypt-inspired art in workshops.

And while you’re at the museum, don’t miss Chris Burden’s kinetic sculpture, Metropolis II. Kids can sit mesmerized for ages at this whizzing, whirring mass. It’s in action every Sunday (Fridays and Saturdays, too.)

LACMA’s Andell Family Sundays are programs designed especially for families: make art, look at art, and talk about art together in workshops and bilingual gallery tours. Most of all—have fun.

The program is free with admission, and kids always get free admission for themselves and an accompanying adult with the LACMA NextGen program! Please remember that all children must be accompanied by an adult.
