A Very Brady Studio City
Here’s the story…
Of what I do when people are visiting Studio City and we happen to be in a certain local neighborhood…
I like to slow the car to a stop in front of an unassuming split level a few blocks from my home. Some might know it as 4222 Clinton Road – but that address can’t be found in Studio City. Not today. Not ever.
One or two have gotten it, but for those that didn’t I ask if anything about the home looks familiar… minus the waist-high fence. That’s when they get it. Everyone gets it. Driving by the “Brady” house with people from out of town always elicits smiles from adults. This is 70’s history, this is childhood, this is America. At least to me. And it seems, to many.
There is something wholesome in shows from that era, F Troop, Gilligan’s Island, Bewitched, that’s missing from today’s slate of kid specific programming. On TV way back when, parents knew better and let the kids figure it out. The characters were kind, although often misguided. And they always came around, learning through trial, error and sometimes terror in the case of Scooby Doo.
I just set the DVR to record some Brady Bunch.
The actual address is 11222 Dilling Street, Studio City.
Don’t all go at once!
