The L.A. Derby Dolls’ all-star team The Ri-Ettes takes on the scrappy team, The Rejects, on Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Dolloesseum in El Sereno. The L.A. Junior Derby Dolls (girls age 7-17) skate earlier in the day at 5 p.m. Standing admission: $15, $18 at the door; bleacher seating $35 online, $38 at the door. Discounts available for students with ID, Seniors, Veterans and kids under 12 (parental guidance suggested for Saturday night bouts). Admission includes face painting and free karaoke on the back patio. Cash bar and food trucks available onsite.

Participate in all-age tours of MOCA’s permanent collection or join conversations about Hito Steyerl: Factory of the Sun, the Berlin-based artist’s futuristic multimedia installation. Also, investigate artist Barbara Kasten’s theatrical, otherworldly photographs, which capture geometric arrangements of color and light, and then learn how to take photos in new ways as you construct, arrange, and light your own dramatic environments.

This is the most walkable CicLAvia yet! CicLAvia temporarily removes cars from L.A. streets – and the streets fill up with smiles! That’s what they say, not me. Although I have been and I did smile, a lot. The San Fernando Valley route runs 4 miles. Explore Pacoima, Arleta, North Hills East, and Panorama City. Check the website for tips on where to park and how to get there!
