The Judge (A review)

I love movies. I really love movies. I’ve always loved getting lost in a great story, whether it’s a big budget sci-fi action flick or a thoughtfully crafted story driven film. I get to see a lot of movies. I’m averaging at least one every two weeks, if not more this year (thanks Honey).
So I was invited by the producers of “The Judge” along with bunch of other bloggers to check out the film (and have a bagel on them {that’s my disclaimer people} ) and I’m glad I went. Those were some good bagels.
I kid.
“The Judge” was great! Really great. Do you want to know how great? Keep reading. The acting was amazing, the story kept moving and was incredibly relatable. The characters were very well drawn. If you have a family and they’re not perfect, this film will speak to you. It’s not just a courtroom drama, it’s not a procedural, but there’s some of that in there, it’s not a one trick pony. Duvall is the consummate professional and it was nice to see Robert Downey Jr. in a more traditional role. I grew up with his films and this is a return to his more human side. The score was dead on. There is just enough humor, just enough drama, this is one to see and unless I’m mistaken when award season roles around this one will be a top contender.
