where: Hollywood, Cinefamily, 611 N Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles, Ca
cost: $12
ages: 5 and up
the Whaddup:
“Can’t Buy Me Love,” “I Should Have Known Better,” and “If I Fell,” they all turn 50 this summer. And to celebrate, the movie, A Hard Day’s Night, will be in the theater for a week. This movie reconceived the movie musical, exerted an incalculable influence on the music video, and remains one of the most deliriously entertaining movies of all time. Initially conceived as a low-budget cash-in quickie, this gale-force charmer, which hit theaters just three months after the first day’s filming, famously features The Beatles playing wily, exuberant versions of themselves. You’ll love it, the kids will love it, and if you bring Grandma and Grandpa, they’ll feel young again!

Palisades Parade and Fireworks
when: Jul 4 at 1:50 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
where: Pacific Palisades Downtown, Sunset Blvd., Pacific Palisades, Ca
cost: Free-$50 (Reserved seats)
ages: All Ages
the Whaddup:
See the skydivers, watch the parade, hear a concert and then watch the fireworks!
Though Los Angeles is a huge city, the 4th of July parade in the Palisades brings with it a small town feel, where everyone knows their neighbors and enjoys a sunny day of patriotism and celebration together. The parade starts with skydivers landing in the town center, and then brings bands and horses from across the country, alongside local kids and community groups and the 2014 Parade Grand Marshal.
After the parade, move from downtown to Pali High to see a family friendly concert at Palisades Charter High’s Stadium by the Sea. Then you’re in place for the perfect spot for the fireworks show.
The Parade and Fireworks are free, the concert is $5 for adults (free for kids 12 and under).

Seaside Lagoon Community Celebration
when: Jul 4 at 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
where: Seaside Lagoon, 200 Portofino Way, Redondo Beach, Ca
cost: $15-$22
ages: All Ages
the Whaddup:
While you could view the Redondo Beach fireworks from just about anywhere in the South Bay, the best seats are those you reserve at Seaside Lagoon. It gives you a place to play and picnic for the day, and a reserved ringside seat. There are also tons of activities and music for the whole family throughout the day.
Kids can swim in the warm water lagoon with lifeguards, paddle board lesson, races and demonstrations. They can take part in the Sounds Like Science workshops and see shows like the Jim Gamble Puppet Show, participate in July 4th arts and crafts, and take part in the Kids Annual Freedom Parade around lagoon and a 56 foot long obstacle course and slide. Then they can join the whole family at a reserved spot in the sand or at a table to picnic and see the fireworks display (which starts at 9 p.m).
If you’re planning on attending, get tickets in advance as this event sells out every year.
