Summer is here. The schools have given our children back and it’s up to us to entertain them, educate them, keep them out of trouble… and keep ourselves entertained and out of trouble.

To celebrate the rich history of Gilmore Gas and its extraordinary impact on the car culture of California, The Original Farmers Market hosts one of the most entertaining casual car shows in the West. This year the focus is on the Thunderbird, for the 60th anniversary of the car.
This year’s show, “Mustangs at the Market – 50 Bucking Years” pays tribute to the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang!

Poodle Skirts and Classic Rides at Bob’s

Whther you like foreign or domestic, Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank is the place to stop the first Saturday of the month. Grab a shake and some fries, or one of their signature burgers, and check out some classics from the past. Check out the “Beatles Booth” where the Beatles grabbed their burgers on a visit during their 1965 tour.
Every first Saturday of the month, there’s a competition for all classic cars around Southern California. it’s also “50’s Costume Contest” night, and they award Gift Cards for adults and Big Boy prizes for kids. So step back in time in your coolest 50’s clothes and win some prizes while you check out the cars and munch on the fries and shakes.

So, maybe you’re not the handiest parent on the planet. But your kiddo has a definite aptitude for working with hammers and nails or you just don’t want them to end up like you. It’s okay, they’ll still have your winning smile. Drag them to Home Depot this Saturday for a workshop that teaches kids do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. This month build a load and go truck!
Kids get to keep their craft and get a free Kids Workshop Apron, commemorative pin and certificate of achievement.

They’re Back! “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

It’s Theatricum’s signature production, and you’ll instantly see why. As if we need another reason to go to Topanga, aside from the cool temperatures and great food at places like Abuelitas or Froggys. This is a romp through the forest for ardent young lovers, mischievous fairies and a ragtag band of trades people as they encounter a night filled with wonder. There’s no more perfect setting than the leafy bower of Theatricum’s outdoor stage to experience this delightful tale of magic and romance.
Even kids that you might think are too young for a full Shakespeare production delight in watching mischievous fairies in this magical setting!

World Music and Cultural Arts Festival

The summer Concerts on the Green series at Warner Park kicks off the concert season with the first ever VCC World Music and Cultural Arts Festival, featuring performers and artisans from around the world, like Tizer Quartet’s world fusion music, the Aztec Dancers of the Valley, Kátia Moraes & Brazilian Hearts, Chalo Eduardo, the Young Dubliners and more.
The Valley Cultural Center has presented free concerts every summer since 1975, and are a cornerstone of Sunday afternoons in the Valley.

Music in the Park with Concerts on Canon

The free Cañon Summer Concert Series features all kinds of upbeat music from jazz and classic standards to Big Band.
Seating is available on a first-come basis. Bring a meal to enjoy. (Or pick up a tasty picnic on the grounds at Bouchon Bakery!) Plentiful seating provided on a first-come basis with open grass area for picnic blankets, tables and chairs.
There’s a different concert every Thursday night from June 4-September 3.
