-Weekend-Whaddup- Mother’s Day Weekend – May 8-9-10 9
Friday Night Jazz at LACMA
when: Fridays through October
where: Miracle Mile, LACMA, 5900 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, Ca
how much: Free
who: All Ages
the whaddup:
There’s a lot to like about LACMA… great art and a beautiful building… even more when you consider you can bring some hot chocolate for the kids (or the kid in you) and blankets and chairs, while you lounge on the grass and listen to jazz… each and every Friday from April 18th through the end of October. What’s better than jazz? Free jazz.
Bring the kids early to snag seats and give them room to run around Hancock Park, roll down hills, and explore before the concert. Check them before you stick them back in the car, the tar seeps through the grass and isn’t easy to get off upholstery.
The museum is free to all Los Angeles County residents after 5 p.m. on Fridays (and Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays).

LAFD Annual Pancake Breakfast
when: May 9 at 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
where: Around town at Various Stations (Station 86 is local)
how much: $3-$5
ages: All Ages
the Whaddup:
Kids love firemen (persons). Well, I think everyone does. There’s something about the shiny red trucks and the whole I’m going to run into a burning building to save people attitude, that people like. Coming up tomorrow it’s “Fire Service Day,” (the 9th year)! Head to your local station and meet and thank all your local heroes (they’ll happily give you a tour and let little ones sit in the trucks, as long as they’re not called out to an emergency). Or you can celebrate the day with pancakes…
If you want the history, you’ll want to visit the granddaddy of all the LAFD fire stations and head to the LAFD Museum, 1355 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Los Angeles, Ca
Each and every year the LAFD Historical Society helps the Los Angeles Fire Department celebrate “Fire Service Day” with a pancake breakfast. Prepared by active and retired firefighters, these pancakes are the best. If pancakes aren’t your thing, there are eggs and sausage, coffee, hot chocolate, and other goodies. Sit in the plaza outside the LAFD Museum and share a delightful meal with your neighbors, active firefighters from Fire Station 27, and community leaders. Then tour the Fire Museum, and visit the Hollywood Station right next door.
