Immerse in artist Diana Thater’s video installations which are often of nature, like the underwater world of dolphins or the communication of bees. Then explore Thater’s art through dance and installation workshops.
And while you’re at the museum, don’t miss Chris Burden’s kinetic sculpture, Metropolis II. Kids can sit mesmerized for ages at this whizzing, whirring mass. It’s in action every Sunday (Fridays and Saturdays, too.)
LACMA’s Andell Family Sundays are programs designed especially for families: make art, look at art, and talk about art together in workshops and bilingual gallery tours. Most of all—have fun.
The program is free with admission. Here’s a cool “hack” – kids always get free admission for themselves and an accompanying adult with the LACMA NexGen program! All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Every Sunday the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation offers a free art workshop, bringing back the tradition of the park’s “Sundays Open Sundays” free art classes from years past. Bring nothing but yourselves and your imagination, all materials are provided. Each week features an art project from a different part of the world, this week it’s all about Ancient Rome: Lares Altar with Quan Trang. I have no idea what that is, but I bet it’s cool.
